Meet Poet – The Sweetest Little Doberman Survivor with a Heart Full of Grace

2-Year-Old Female “Pocket” Doberman | 45 lbs | Fawn Beauty

Poet’s story begins in heartbreak—but is unfolding into something beautiful. This petite mama Doberman was found abandoned in a stranger’s yard in Texas, her body thin, her eyes tired, and six purebred, newborn puppies huddled beside her, barely two weeks old with their eyes still closed. The homeowner called for help, and animal control arrived—rescuing a mother who had clearly given everything she had to protect her babies.

Now in the safety of a loving foster home, Poet is blossoming. At only 45 pounds, she’s what we call a “pocket Doberman”—petite in size but immense in heart. She is a gorgeous fawn-colored girl with the kind of calm, soulful presence that makes you stop and admire her. Her foster describes her as the kind of dog who just seems to know. She's been through chaos, no doubt, but nothing fazes her. She takes everything in stride, with a grace that feels almost otherworldly.

And when it comes to her babies? Poet is an exceptional mother. Devoted, patient, gentle, and steady—she nursed them through their most fragile days and is now, two weeks later, beginning the weaning process with the same tenderness. Her six purebred Doberman pups—3 black, 3 red, 3 boys, and 3 girls—are thriving under her care. And if they inherit even a fraction of her temperament, they’re destined to be wonderful dogs too.

Poet is also incredibly dog-friendly, peacefully coexisting with the other dogs in her foster home. Even more impressively, she’s totally at ease with cats—a rare and golden quality in a Doberman! Whether it’s animals or humans, she radiates calm and kindness.

Poet’s Story in a Glance:

  • Found abandoned with 6 purebred newborn pups-Who does this????!!!!!

  • Calm, kind, and nurturing—even in crisis

  • Great with other dogs and amazing with cats

  • Pocket-sized at 45 pounds—a dainty Dobie queen

  • Fawn coat and soulful eyes

  • Will be available after her pups are fully weaned and she’s spayed

  • Most likely lived a rough, chaotic life—but you'd never know it by how graciously she lives now

Poet is the kind of dog who leaves a mark on your heart. She’s seen hardship, but she carries herself with peace, love, and quiet resilience. If you’re looking for a Doberman with a gentle soul, who will move through life beside you with loyalty and grace, Poet might be the one.
